The History Behind Friday Sparkle Day

Friday Sparkle Day started back in 2000 when Paul and I were first married and had Bianca on the way. I was working full-time at BYU as a web designer and graphic artist while Paul was finishing up school and working. Being pregnant, working, and having all the demands that school placed on Paul as a student and working I needed a little "umph" to finish out my week strong. So one day I thought it would be a delight, or rather "sparkle" up my Friday as I put some sparkle eye powder on to have some fun! Well, this small, somewhat noticeable addition to my beautifying process really did lift me and help me have a great Friday to finish off the week. I went around work and home saying "Happy Friday Sparkle Day" to everyone and that brought smiles not only to my insides, but to those around me. Soon it became a tradition and was my inner way of celebrating that I had made it through another week, that I just had this last day to go, and soon the weekend would be here! Yahoo! It then evolved into when I became a stay-at-home mom and had long weeks with a newborn baby and no sleep, an inquisitive toddler, or even special non-Friday's in which I would be looking forward to a long-awaited vacation or visits from those I love. At this point in the wonderful journey we call life and having four children it is my way to keep remembering how truly precious they are and how blessed we are to have them. It helps me take the oops and turns them into moments that we can all have a laugh at. It is my way of using and exploring my talents as an artist, a photographer, and most importantly, A MOTHER!

Candace, you are awesome! I love you so much. You do a lot of good by sharing your inner sparkle with other moms that sometimes need a lift by the end of the week, too.
