This week's Friday Sparkle Day message is entitled:
A Modern Day Parable, The Gap of Corn Bitz Despair.
Note: This is a pictorial account of a real incident so hopefully the pictures will be embedded in order. If your email program does not I tried to number the pictures in order for your viewing pleasure. Now here it goes....
Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted some Corn Bitz. Her mother asked her if she would like some help as the little girl held fast to the box of crunchy delight and carefully surveyed her chair. "NO!" was the girl's firm reply. And so she began to climb the chair with her prized possession clutched tightly...
The going was slow, however, the girl was determined. Repeated attempts of assistance were offered, but all were declined by the insistent little one...
Finally, with an air of triumph the little girl made it to the top...
Now in her determination to accomplish the task by herself, the little girl failed to realize the gap from the table that was created as the climber began her journey up the chair. However, she had made it to the top with the crunchy delight...
The decision point... more assistance is offered to bridge the gap AND...
The little girl decides she can still do it all by herself. She looks at her clutched possession AND...
(Note: The red-eye effect is due to the camera flash that occurs too fast for the iris of the eye to close the pupil, not because the subject failed to follow the advice given in Matthew 6:24; something about not being able to serve two masters.) :-)
At last the little girl determines that she cannot do it alone. The Gap of Corn Bitz despair has made her ask for help...
Partaking at the table is much more sweet!
Big Brother comes along and after having the situation explained to him on why Mom is taking so many pictures of his little sister says, "Well, that is easy, I can show her how it is done!"
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14: 6
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:41-44
Showing us the Gap of Corn Bitz Despair, the older brother stretches forth his arms...
He curls his feet and pulls with his might to make the gap no more.
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. John 13: 15

A Triumph!
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning. 3 Nephi 11: 11

And here we have the elder brother sharing with his little sister.
And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. Luke 15:31
So, in conclusion I just wanted to share with each of you what I have learned, not only as I watch my little ones learn and help and share, but what I have learned myself this last week, again! This past week I learned that as much as we want to do it on our own that unless we turn to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, our Elder Brother, that we will still have the Gap of Corn Bitz Despair. Even if we try to pretend we are happy and partake of the things that the world says will make us happy there is still that Gap of Corn Bitz Despair. And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luke 11: 9 For it is through Christ can we bridge that gap and truly be happy.
Love,
Candace
