I like to title this week: Sounds that make your heart THROB...
One of the first things that made my heart throb was Christian. He is our usually quite passive, thoughtful 4 year old. One morning as he was coming up for breakfast he just started saying out of the blue, "Cannon is my best friend. He sure is my best friend. Can your brother be your best friend? Well, he is mine."

My response... "Definitely, Christian!" (THROB! THROB!)
The second, slightly amusing thing I heard this week was when I was watching our neighbor's four year old girl. She is hilarious and quite grown up for four. I had begun to attempt making bread and she came up to the kitchen to inquire what I was doing. When I told her I was making "squash bread" she just looked at me and said with the biggest eyes "I LOVE squash bread!" I told her I would have to bring her some over later. I think this must be a pretty unique Utah thing. What four year old would you hear saying they love squash bread? I delivered the goods like promised. They were excited for the delivery. The next day even her 10 year brother told me that he loved the squash bread. I have to admit it was really good. (SMILE! SMILE!)
The third experience I want to share came with mixed feelings this week. I was so excited to go in for my first ob appointment. On Monday I was 10 weeks along in my pregnancy. My appointment was on Tuesday. Dr. Glenn, who has delivered all 4 of our children, was excited to see me. My blood tests all came back perfect and my physical exam looked right on. However, when it came to locating the baby's heartbeat Dr. Glenn couldn't find it. Mind you the fetus is about an inch long and my uterus was deemed a 12 week uterus again (I think that comes with having lots of kids) but after almost 10 minutes no success. He seemed to not worry too much, but scheduled me for viability ultrasound. The receptionist who did the scheduling said that the next available would be Friday. Okay. So, from about Tuesday to Friday I tried not to think about it too much. I mean, I have been blessed and Paul and I don't seem to have a hard time conceiving. Anyways... I really didn't concentrate too much on it. It is soccer season and that keeps us moving. I only checked the baby message boards once. Mostly, the women who had posted their similar question "Why can't my doctor find a heartbeat?" usually admitted that they had spotting a few weeks before and didn't believe the doctor. Some had even had an ultrasound and no luck. My heart (THROB-THROB) went out to those women. Anyways, not to depress anyone further we had the appointment and Paul came with. The ultrasound technician, which has done three of our children's ultrasounds, was pretty miffed that they made me wait until Friday, but as soon as she put the little thingie (whatever that is called) on my belly she took a big sigh of relief. There was a baby with a heartbeat (THROB! THROB!!!). A perfect, 10 week old, heart beating little one. We affectionately call it our little peanut!

So, all is well. There is only ONE peanut which kind of puts an early end to Paul's twin teasing. We all learned not to read to much into "horror scopes." And most importantly...
the blessings of LITTLE sounds are amazingly a BIG part of each of our lives. Make sure you don't take them for granted in whatever sounds they come in.
Love,
Candace
