Friday Sparkle Christian Day!

Christian Reeves Jones

He did it folks! He was able to wait until his birthday! And then he had an almost perfect birthday! Bianca and I woke up early and decorated his "Birthday Throne." The king arose from his slumber and knew exactly where his majesty was to sit...

After the children were off to school and a little more waiting, Christian, Annmarie and I ventured off to the library. At approximately 7 minutes after the library officially opened Christian was the proud recipient of his big, 5 year old privilege: An Orem City Library card. He has been telling everyone how when he turns five he can get one...

At preschool Christian was able to be the Star Student. This included being the line leader, bringing the snack, handing it out, and other noble privileges. Mom was invited to come the last 10 minutes and share some special things about him. And, of course, it couldn't conclude without Mom trying to hide a couple tears as she sang "Christian's song" that was sung to him as a baby.

Dad came home early from work and the festivities began. We had Christian's favorite meal, macaroni and cheese, and concluded with the most-excellent Grandma Jones's Chocolate Cake that Paul made. It came with a tractor and complete with rows of cultivated dirt with just the hint of green poking through. Also, we learned from our trip to the Miller Family Farm, located near Frederick, Colorado, that no farm is complete without a BIG pile of dirt! I tried to get a side shot of the terrain...

Blowing out the candles...

Then present time came! What was hilarious was in one box that he opened there was tons of those air pouches. The kids seized on them immediately and began stomping and popping them. I am not sure they even saw what was in the box until the "fireworks" ended...

To end the party we traveled up to Lehi's indoor aquatic center. Unfortunately, the facility had been rented out for some special occasion. With four, very sad kids we made our way back home with promises of returning on Saturday. Their spirits weren't dampened long because Paul got one big Nerf gun shootout tournament going and he put together Christian's new race track. After all the excitement, our newest 5 year old was tucked into bed with a big smile, feeling rather big himself, as he grows one year older. We feel so blessed to have this incredible, loving and obedient child in our home. He truly acts instinctively to help others and his smile just brightens anyone around!

We love you Christian!

Love,
Candace and Clan

I read your blog before you posted the pictures and thought I was seeing a new post. What a good Mommy to have almost 5 kids and still do special birthday stuff.
