Genevieve and I are now home and it feels good to be back (we came home yesterday). I enjoyed my lovely stay in my "hotel-hospital" as I like to call it. With the push of a button I received nourishment, rest, ice packs, movie, and more. My homecoming was spectacular, complete with more flowers from my Mom, balloons, a nice dinner, and still more rest. It truly feels like spring with the flowers from Paul, my mom, and the nice things my mom is doing for us all. She is super! Paul has been super too trying to keep up with my lists of needs and running to the store to get things with my mom, fixing things, trimming trees, making homemade rolls, Cannon's birthday shopping and birthday cake, and taking the kids to soccer.
Labor and Delivery:
They called me at 5:30am Monday morning and asked if I was ready to have a baby and could come in by 6:15. Yes, please!!! It had snowed over the night so after a light breakfast Paul and I loaded up and headed to the hospital. They checked me in and showed us to my room. It took awhile to get me hooked up. Probably not until around 8:30 and then Dr. Glenn came within the next hour and broke my water. I started being dilated at a 2. Within the hour I was at a 3. The nurse asked if I wanted my epidural since the anesthesiologist was going to a c-section and might be indisposed for an hour. Dr. Glenn said we might as well and that it won't slow things down. So, I got an epidural. In a half hour I was at a 5. Then the next 45 minutes I was at a 7. I started feeling some discomfort and had them turn me over as I was in that jello blob lady state at that point. The pain started getting more intense and they called the anesthesiologist back and he gave me some more medicine straight into the epidural. There was lots of pressure and within 15 minutes I was complete. The delivery began. She was posterior at first but after the first pushes she flipped around to get better into the birth canal and two more sets of pushes and she was out. Yeah! No more pressure! I had to get an episiotomy, like I have with all the kids, and had her out before lunch! A little more painful this time, but I can't complain with the blessings of such great knowledge, medicines, and hospitals available!
What's in a name? Genevieve Deanna Jones
We love her name! One night a couple weeks ago, as I was contemplating her name, I was thinking about Paul and I's dads. My father has been putting off a shoulder operation so he can be available for when the birth draws near. Many times throughout my life my father has kept going through many differing afflictions, serving his family with heart and soul. Many times over my parents have sacrificed their own desires to bless the lives of their children. Paul's father is serving a mission in Malaysia with his sweetheart at the moment. They are sacrificing many things. Not to mention living in a country that doesn't provide the comforts of life that we have in America, but they work hard from sun-up to sundown to serve the Lord and help others learn how they can be happy. They have lived this example all their lives and show through words and actions how important family is. (My parents as well.) And even though their family is the dearest thing to them they know that taking time to serve the Lord will be a great example of selfless love. They know they may miss some family events, but do so by blessing the lives of so many others through their service. Annmarie Belle was a tribute to our mothers and Genevieve Deanna is blessed with the namesake of our father's sacrifice.
