Sharing Time, Spaghetti Factory and Stitches, Oh, My!

We are winding down the school year with only 2 weeks left of school. Bianca is excited her birthday is only in two days! The boys had lots of fun on their Father and Son campout. Christian developed a love for fishing and Paul taught him how to tell such a good fish story we think he believes it now. Cannon loved paddling the kayak all over the lake. They came home dirty and with big smiles on their faces. Paul came home with a bandaged thumb that he ripped open while making the cobblers. There were lots of volunteers to practice first aid on him and lots of first aid kits surfaced. He was a good boy and went and got it looked at when they got back. He received a couple of stitches and a tetanus shot since it happened on a can. I hope that cobbler tasted okay still :)

While the boys were eating hot dogs over a fire and practicing first aid the girls and I had fun going out to eat. Afterwards, we went to one of the little mall shops so Bianca could spend some of her birthday money. She was in heaven!!! She got some cute earrings, a little makeup, and a cute earring holder. This morning Annmarie and her were in Bianca's room all morning doing girlie stuff, painting nails and such.

Today I enjoyed teaching sharing time. The lesson was on repentance and I just loved using three different examples from the scriptures of different individuals that went through the steps of repentance. With the younger children we talked about Jonah. I had each of the classes have a key word or phrase and a little action/noise to go along when I read the story. For example each time I said the "people of Nineveh" the assigned class would let out raucous laughter. I thought the oldest class would really enjoy this and I was surprised that their raucous laughter was really reverent. Leave it to Sister Jones to be the rowdy one! Everytime I said the word "sea" the class assigned would do the wave. With the older children I used 2 different stories to contrast how they went through repentance and if their hearts were truly changed. I used Laman and Lemuel in 1 Nephi 7 and Alma in Alma 36/Mosiah 27. The process of repentance is so apparent in these cases and it was so special to see the children delight in the scriptures. I could see them recognize the principle in the scriptures. The Spirit could be felt so strongly as we read:

"And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more. And oh, what joy, and what marvelous light I did behold; yea, my soul was filled with joy as exceeding as was my pain."

Woo-Hoo!

Anyways, I feel so blessed each day for how much Heavenly Father watches over our family. Genevieve is trying to climb up everything and that keeps us busy pulling chairs from the kitchen and keeping her from off the table. May you each have a wonderful week.

Love,
Candace and Clan
