Then sings my soul...

So, you know when you get to the chorus of How Great Thou Art there is only one way to sing it... that is kind of how my heart feels as I type. Yesterday I was released from working with approximately 80 Primary children. We all knew it was time. We had our turn and now some really super ladies can carry on. Really, they are super and that's the only happy part of it. For the last two and a half years the primary children have truly blessed my life on Sundays. They have helped me put on that happy face as I came to church with sleepless nights from being pregnant to having sleepless nights with a baby to worrying about how Paul's back is going to hold up. They have enabled me to be silly, to laugh and to cry, and to discover the depths of the Gospel as a little child. Jesus said "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." St. Mark 10:14-15 I know it isn't just on Sundays that I learn these things, but everyday as I raise my own precious children.

I guess it doesn't have to end. I have never been good with change. I never wanted to admit that I am an adult. Don't get me wrong... I've developed plenty of adult-like habits.
"Hey, kiddos, can you turn that computer game down. A little more. A little more. Thanks, that's good."
"Play a game with you? I'd love to honey, but I've gotta finish my work first. Then we can see."
Sweeping. Argh!
The mom look that says you-better-not.
"I'm a little tired right now. Can we do that later after I rest for a bit?"
"Painting? Right now?"
Sweeping. Again. Argh!

But if anyone truly knows me there is a little bit of fun mixed into it all...
"Okay, let's get out all the flat sheets and you can make whatever kind of tents you want downstairs. Just don't use the books this time. Okie!" (yeah, those flat sheets still need to be put away, whoops)
"Have you guys checked out that field down the street where the grass is almost as big as you? We used to make all sorts of secret hideouts in our field when I was a kid..."
"Let's have a treasure hunt! I've noticed how some cups and plates have randomly made their way around the house and outside. See how many you can find and you'll get a treasure for each one." (Whoops, I guess I already picked up most of those because we only found one cup. It was a good hunt!)
Tuesday Library Day
Wednesday Water Day
Friday Go-to-a-Different-Park Day
"Bowl-a, Bowl-a, Sink-a, Bowl-a"
"Let's paint!"

Well, I guess my point is that I'm not ready to grow up. I've had too much fun. I love in primary how the children recognize the doctrines of the Gospel and are willing to change their behavior in "trying to become like Jesus." I guess Sunday School and Relief Society are in for a new twist. I know, a lot of guesses. Buck up, little buckaroo!
