Monday Family Boo Evening
We had a really fun family home evening this week. Together we decorated the newest visitor for the season, "Chops the Scarecrow." Everyone pitched in... the neighbors donated the pumpkin for his head, Mom and Dad their clothes (what?), Cannon, Christian and Annmarie each made an eye, and Bianca, the mouth. We also played a variation on the "Fee-Fi-Foe-Fum" saying with a bat. The person who is "it" sits on a chair with his/her back facing everyone. We used Cannon's black bat and sat it under the chair. Then while having the "it" person close their eyes we chant "Bee-By-Bow-Bon, I think Cannon's black bat is gone." This is a little game Christian and I learned at his articulation class. It stresses the "B" sound. While chanting we have someone secretly go and get the bat and then the person who is "it" has to try to figure out who has the bat. The kids loved it, but not too long into the game Annmarie kept disclosing who the bat taker was. Here is our scarecrow. It really made me realize that these are the kind of memories that need to be made during holidays and I am looking forward to more holidays to create our own memories with the children. The children learned how people are so nice and share their pumpkins with others and worked together creating it.
