Reunion Recap

Pictures do evoke tender thoughts and that is what happened the other day as I began the task of cleaning out the car. Amongst the crumbs, the sleeping bags and more was this sweet card Emmalee made Annmarie...

Seeing this thoughtful card made me reflect on the beautiful blessing it is to be able to be part of this family. The simple acts of kindness that are shown to my family. Seeing this card did bring back lots more memories of this last weekend that I wanted to share. That way everyone can get an idea of what went on this weekend. Even if they were off smooching (Dave and Steph), serving the Lord so valiantly and faithfully (Mom and Dad) or far away taking care of their precious little ones like the Lord would have them do (Dan and Deanna).

Here are some of my memories...

1. Backpack Buddies--Sarah made these little stuffed key chains for all the kids. I don't know about the other cousins, but my children tried to bring them wherever they went. They still consider their prize possessions with fondness... thanks Sarah!
2. Sunburns--The waterpark was SO fun! So much that a couple of us had some reminders for a few days later. And I wasn't even out in the sun very much!
3. FlowRider--In talking about the waterpark you can't forget the body boarding fun. I love the story about Cannon losing his britches down to his knees and Paul and another person promptly putting up the boards so he could adjust himself! Who's kid is that anyways? We'll have to try duct tape next time! Thanks everyone for helping find Annmarie too... hate those heart-dropping moments! Also, John, thanks for letting me wear your sunglasses... those were nice! Anyone care for a popsicle? Okay, 90% juice? :)
4. Hotel Rooms--I was a little worried and I wanted to make sure everyone was happy and got their monies worth before we arrived. Finally I reminded myself not to stress and just let everyone work it out. I think everyone was comfortable, the rooms were nice and spacious (and had an ironing board for Sarah :)) and the kids loved running back and forth between the various rooms. The girls had a fun Friday night sleep party and I think we only got told that one time to try to be quiet :) Thanks Rob and Sarah for taking the adjoining room and keeping the kiddos down! Loved the continental breakfast! Sorry Rob you didn't get to meet the famous lady!
5. Speaking of food, Pizza Party! Thanks Melissa and Sarah for getting the show going with getting the pizza. Anybody have a plate? Thanks for sharing!
6. Shari's--It was really fun going to Shari's... herding the crowd across the street, parading through the restaurant, and then to find out that "Kids Eat Free on Saturdays" was a blessing! 7. The Wedding--It was very nice with lots of smiles and tears (happy ones). The weather was perfect. Loved the cat that came strolling through the ceremony... that will be a very memorable event to laugh about! Dave what kind of cologne were you wearing? The kids loved the treehouse/slide/sandbox. It was fun playing duck-duck-goose and What Time is it Old Witch while waiting to get our pictures taken. After 30+ minutes though we were ready to get our pictures taken. Thanks Dave for getting us in the picture line up!
8. Claire's Birthday Party--Should we sing to you one more time? That was fun celebrating Claire's birthday on Saturday. I snuck off early that morning to get a cake and some goodies at Walmart. I bought for the first time one of those special cold/hot bags to keep the cake in while we were at the waterpark. It kept it cool but luckily we came home for Shari's and we could put it in the fridge for a bit. We had fun playing soccer at the school park, played on the playground, Lucy had to pee and Rob refused to take her (way to be tough Sarah), had some glow stick fun, pinwheels, sparkle star stickers, cake, a little present fun, and load up the van convoy to Crazy Uncle Larry's Firework extravaganza!
9. Church--Thanks for getting us to the church on time Melissa! The gospel is true no matter where we go--how wonderful! What a great way to end the reunion. A testimony meeting where the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is reaffirmed in the lives of many. The blessing that the gospel brings to each of our families as we live those truths taught by our parents and continue to be build on in our own families! That is what makes a family truly happy! Then we said our goodbyes and off we went to drive our separate ways!
10. Dinner at Rob and Sarah's on the way home--the best meal ever! It was just what we needed to continue our drive all the way that day. Glad Stephen made it home alive. That last stretch from the Salt Lake valley to home was brutal. Paul and I were racking our brains to try to keep each other awake.

Lastly, we did miss all of those that couldn't make it, but I hope you know how much we love you and felt you there!

Love ya,
Candace
