I had this realization today that I indeed was growing up. The thought occurred to me after a particularly sorrowing phone call about an older sister in our ward (congregation). She serves as a teacher to the Primary children in which I work with. She has been in the hospital for about two days and they have found large masses on her liver. Because of the growth pattern it is thought that the masses have been spread from another area. They are now running tests to see where the, most likely, cancer is originating from. While she was talking to the Bishop of our ward her biggest concern was of her primary class; ten lucky and sweet 10 year olds. As I thought about this incredible woman who just lost her own husband four years ago to cancer, has battled life without him and the changes age incurs, I was brought to my knees with sorrow. Not that it would be sad if she could be with her sweetheart again, but now that as I am "growing up" I see so many loved ones and dear ones going through such incredible trials in their lives. The longer that I am living, there is an awareness that I know more who are suffering. The more people I know, the more I grow to love. As I pondered this my mind was again turned to this incredible lady's concern for the children. Oh, how I have a small impression of what our Father in Heaven must feel as he sees the suffering of his "children." But I know that he love us and that he doesn't just watch us suffer. He sends his angels to care for "the children." During a time when the angel proclaimed good tithing of great joy I hope that my gift to the Savior can include my heart. That I can unwrap a little more good will towards all men. I hope that the hustle and bustle will rush on by and the memories of joyous laughter and song will still with me when I am old. As another wise woman said, "Take away all the Christmas trees, presents, and good food. You will still have Christmas because you still have Christ."
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.1
For I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.2
Bear ye one another’s burdens. And let us not be weary in well doing. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men.3
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.4
Love,
Candace
