Proposition 8 opposition and attacks

FYI--Thought I would spread the word, ask for prayers and continue in love and faith!

Last Friday, Proposition 8 Coalition Leaders held a press conference to denounce attacks against individuals, churches and businesses who supported the California marriage amendment. Most troubling is that the opposition has escalated to acts of violence and domestic terrorism. The day before the press conference envelopes of a white substance were mailed to the LDS Temple in LA, Salt Lake City LDS Church Headquarters, and the Knights of Columbus building in Connecticut. Tests were conducted to ensure it wasn't ricin, anthrax or any other biological weapon. However, there has been much vandalism done to many church buildings of different faiths, harassment and threats to individuals as they exercise some of the basic constitutional rights to worship and support the proposition. Some businesses have even been targeted because of their employers/ees sought fit to donate to the campaign.

For segments of the press coverage:

I am in support of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution that states "Congress shall make no law respecting ... the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Furthermore, "The right to freedom of association is recognized as human right, political freedom and a civil liberty." Without this human right the power of government would have ruled the people long since.

Sincerely,
Candace

You do such a good job of consistently posting without the incentive of a lot of reader comments. I thrive off knowing that someone is reading what I write. Keep it up. I am putting you on my bloglist
